The Factory Community Project and Children’s Centre welcome you to our website which aims to give you the flavour of our organisation through a virtual experience!

As you tour the website and view the range of services that we deliver it is essential that you understand we are part of the Third Sector (or the Voluntary Sector) and have been here at the Matthias Road site for just under 40 years. We have experienced changes in central and local governments as well as local council officers coming and going and peaks and troughs in funding and we are still here for the community.

Over the years there has been one constant within this organisation that has sustained it through all the good times and the bad times. This is the committment that the organisation has to delivering the best services possible to the people of Islington and Hackney who are most in need.
As a registered charity we have led the way in Mildmay Ward to ensuring that everyone who uses our services can benefit in our experience and expertise.

I hope that you find the website informative and helpful. Thankyou

David Vandivier

The Head of the Factory Community Project and Children’s Centre

About Us

The Factory Community Project was conceived in 1973 out of an idea that the Islington Voluntary Action Council and Simon Kaplinsky (a local architect) had that people in the Islington ward of Mildmay needed a specific site from which to address their community needs. (specifically a place to take their children).
